When he was served, I told one of my soldiers: go ask that man to join us. The soldier went and transmitted my invitation. The man stood up, took the plate and sat next to me.     In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write a famous author and ask for advice.   செய்யும் எந்த வேலையாக இருந்தாலும் எப்படி முழு விருப்பத்துடன் செய்வது? "மனம் இருந்தால் மார்கம் உண்டு." இன்றைக்கு 100க்கு 90 பேர் தங்களுக்கு பிடிக்காத வேலையே செய்கிறார்கள்.."நாம படிச்சது ஒன்று செய்கின்ற வேலை ஒன்று" என்று தான் நாட்களும் கடந்து சென்று கொண்டு இருக்கிறது...அதற்காக என்ன செய்வது "நமக்கு பிடிக்கவில்லை என்றாலும் அந்த வேலைக்கு உங்களை பிடித்துவிட்டது" என்று மனதை தேற்றிக்கொள்ள வேண்டியது நமது கடமை. கிராமப்புறங்களில் ஒரு வேடிக்கையான புராணக்கதை ஒன்று சொல்வார்கள். அந்த கதையை இங்கு குறிப்பிடுகிறேன். அந்த கதையோடு இந்த கேள்விக்கான விளக்கம் கிடைக்கும் என்று நம்புகிறேன்... கட்டுடள் தேகம் கொண்ட அழகான பெண், அவள் பெயர் தும்பை... இவள் மற்றவர்களின் முகம்சுளிக்க வைக்கக்கூடிய வகையில் விரும்பத்தகாத வேலையை செய்து தன் பிழைப்பை நடத்தி வந்தாள். அப்படி என்ன வேலை அது என்றால் தேவதாசி அல்லது பரத்தை என்று அழைக்கக்கூடிய தேxxx(தேவரடியாள்) வேலைதான் அது....தனக்கும் பிடிக்காத வேலையாகத்தான் அவளும் இதை பார்த்தாள். அதேசமயம் அந்த வேலைதான் இவளுக்கு சோறு போடுவதால் தான...

          And then there is this: The Presbyterian church called a meeting to decide what to do about their squirrel infestation. After much prayer and consideration, they concluded that the squirrels were predestined to be there, and they should not interfere with God’s divine will. At the Baptist church, the squirrels had taken an interest in the baptistry. The deacons met and decided to put a water-slide on the baptistry and let the squirrels drown themselves. The squirrels liked the slide and, unfortunately, knew instinctively how to swim, so twice as many squirrels showed up the following week. The Lutheran church decided that they were not in a position to harm any of God’s creatures. So, they humanely trapped their squirrels and set them free near the Baptist church. நகைச்சுவை: நகைச்சுவையுடன் கூடிய சமயோசித புத்திக்கு எடுத்துக்காட்டான ஒரு நிகழ்வைப் பகிர முடியுமா? சமீபத்தில் நான் படித்த கதை. இத்தாலி நாட்டில் உள்ள ரோம் நகரில் வாழ்ந்துவந்த பஞ்சாபி சீக்கியர் ஒருவரின் கதை. கிருஸ்தவர்களுக்கு ஈஸ்டர் ( ஏசுபிரான் உயிர்த்தெழுந்த நாள் ) ஒரு முக்கிய பண்டிகையாகும். ஈஸ்டர் பண்டிகைக்கு முந்தைய நாற்பது நாட்கள் அவர்களுக்கு தவக்காலம் ( Lent) ஆகும். அந்த நாட்களில் அவர்கள் மட்டன், சிக்கன் போன்ற நான் வெஜ் அயிட்டங்களை சாப்பிடாமல் விரதம் இருப்பார்கள். ரோம் நகரில் உள்ள மக்களில் 99 சதவீதம் கிருஸ்தவர்களே. ஆதலால் அவர்கள் வீட்டில் நான்வெஜ் அயிட்டம் எதுவும் சமைக்கப்படவில்லை, எவரும் அதை உண்ண வாய்ப்பில்லை. ரோம் நகரில் பஞ்சாபி சீக்கியர் ஒருவர் வசித்துவந்தார். அவருக்கு தினமும் சிக்கன் இல்லாமல் சாப்பிடமுடியாது. ஒருதடவை அந்த பஞ்சாபி வசித்த ரோம் நகரில் தவக்காலம் வந்தது. எல்லா கிருஸ்தவர்களும் நான்வெஜ் தவிர்த்து மற்ற உணவு வகைகளை சாப்பிடத் தொடங்கினர். ஆனால் இந்த பஞ்சாபி வீட்டிலிருந்து கமகமவென்று சிக்கன் குருமா வாசனை வந்தது. அக்கம்பக்கத்து வீட்டிலிருந்த கிருஸ்தவர்களுக்கு வ...
