Swami Haridas, Tansen & King Akbar

Whe Swami Haridas, right, with Tansen, center, and Akbar, left, at Vrindavana  (1700 AD - 17 60 CE) Artist unknown      Akbar and Tansen reached Swami Haridas’s home, they found him sitting outside, silent, with his musical instruments beside him. Tansen requested Akbar to wait while he himself started singing. After a while, he deliberately made a mistake, at which Swami Haridas said benignly, “Don’t sing like this, Tansen.” Then Swami Haridas began to sing, casting a magic spell all around. Akbar was in a trance, transported to a state of spiritual bliss, broken only by the cessation of the melody. The emperor left for his palace but the song haunted him throughout the journey. Akbar asked Tansen: “Why don’t you sing as well as Haridas does?” Tansen folded his hands and said, “Your Lordship! Between Guru Haridas and me there is a vast difference. I sing for my king while he sings for the Lord of the universe. He is a musician of a much higher c...

RANDOM NOTES

Giri Kumar     A u g u s t   3 0 ,   2 0 1 3   · I heard it second-hand, but it still amazes me. There were many people talking about love, and what love meant. And this child says "love is when my granpa ties granma's shoelaces, because she has arthritis...although his arthritis is worse than hers". To this day, I belive that's the most accurate definition of love. Source: Quora       I asked a 5 year old kid to recite the multiplication table of 8. He recited it like this: 8 1's are 8 8 2's are 16 8 4's are 32 8 9's are 72 8 7's are 56 ... I suggested to him that he didn't know what came after 2 or 3, since he had recited so randomly. Then he replied "I did this way so that you may not feel that I am adding up, everyone says that I add up" This too from Quora. Franz Kafka

Dr. Kris Rizzotto J u l y   1 4   · At 40, Franz Kafka (1883-1924), who never married and had no children, was walking through a park one day in Berlin when he met a girl who was crying because she had lost her favourite doll. She and Kafka searched for the doll unsuccessfully. Kafka told her to meet him there the next day and they would come back to look for her. The next day, when they had not yet found the doll, Kafka gave the girl a letter "written" by the doll saying "please don't cry. I took a trip to see the world. I will write to you about my adventures." Thus began a story which continued until the end of Kafka's life. During their meetings, Kafka read the letters of the doll carefully written with adventures and conversations that the girl found adorable. Finally, Kafka brought back the doll (he bought one) that had returned to Berlin. "It doesn't look like my doll at all," said the girl. Kafka handed her another lette...

Kamalamma writes an open letter to Kamal Hassan

Kamalamma writes an open letter to Kamal Hassan     Dear Mr. Kamalhassan, Myself Kamalamma, from Kunjibettu, Karnataka. What to tell you Sir, everyday it is the Mister who is bringing newspaper from doormat to inside and reading every word like it is the Bhagwad Gita. I am reading it afterward with my breakfast. Then I am balancing one plate idli sambar on my knees and with one hand I am eating and with other I am trying to turn the pages. All this is too much circus so 90% of the times I am spilling something on newspaper and whichever world leader is there in newspaper photo is tasting my dish of the day. But today morning newspaper is not there on dining table. Only the Mister is there sitting straight on chair like some Swamiji who is getting ready for discourse – his spine is straight and he is doing deep breathing. Then I am asking him if he has seen newspaper and he is simply looking at me with blank eyes like Swamiji in final stage of meditation. Th...

A WINTER FRIEND

This is just a beautifully written piece; and so true.  Take a couple of minutes to read it.  You'll be glad you did. A WINTER FRIEND      This article is so befitting for all of us... take time to ponder...     I FIRST STARTED READING THIS POST AND WAS READING FAST UNTIL I REACHED THE THIRD SENTENCE.  I STOPPED THEN AND STARTED OVER, READING SLOWER, AND THINKING ABOUT EVERY WORD...  IT MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK.    So, please      READ SLOWLY!    AND THEN IT IS WINTER    You know time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.  It seems like yesterday that I was young, just married, and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all those years went.   I know that I lived them all.  I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams....

Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Who is/was the most badass Indian politician of all time? This is the story of 1999 when India's immediate PM Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji started the bus service from India to Pakistan . During the launch of the Amritsar-Lahore bus service, PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee himself travelled to Lahore by bus. After arriving in Lahore, he was greeted with a strong welcome. After his speech there, a Pakistani woman journalist, asking PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee questions, smartly hurled the Kashmir issue. The lady journalist told PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, "I want to marry you, but I have a condition that you give me ' Kashmir ' in the 'Muh Dikhai'. Atal Ji first laughed at the point of the lady journalist and then he said, " I am ready, but I want the whole of Pakistan in dowry." The lady journalists was completely shell shocked by this reply. The Great Atal Bihari Vanpayee according to me is the most badass indian politician. ~Rajdeep  https://qr.ae/pGcxk3 ...
